In order to demonstrate the size of the proposed turbines for Great Cransley Wind Farm, we have put together an illustration.
Half a million people could be pushed into fuel poverty by the UK’s drive for wind power, the government’s former chief scientific adviser has said.
Sir David King said: “If we overdo wind we are going to put up the price of electricity and that means more people will fall into the fuel poverty trap.”

The proposed Great Cransley Wind Farm is sited to the South East of two very well used bridleways. The British Horse Society guidance on wind farms is:
“That as a starting point when assessing a site and its potential layout, a separation distance of 4 times the overall height should be the target for National Trails and Ride UK routes, as these are likely to be used by equestrians unfamiliar with turbines, and a distance of three times the overall height from all other routes, including roads, with the 200m recommended …
The reason why the United Kingdom has an inadequate health and safety standard for wind farms, which has resulted in people being made ill and even forced to abandon their homes because of noise, is now clear.
Staff from power firms have been working in Government departments, advising them on matters such as appropriate noise levels and the departments have accepted their advice (The Journal, August 28).
The result is ETSU-R-97, a document planners and the industry are obligated to follow. It allows residents of houses to be constantly subjected to in …
A study was conducted on 39 people living between 984 & 6562 ft from the nearest turbine of a wind farm, all of whom were suffering from the consequences of wind turbine noise from several different wind farms in the UK. Also, rec’d was correspondence from people living near wind farms in New Zealand and Australia, along with other evidence of people being similarly affected in France, Germany, Netherlands and the USA. What this shows is there are many people suffering from the noise of wind turbines, and this is …
