About Us
Stop Great Cransley Wind Farm is an action group of local residents, formed in April 2008, who oppose ‘Bolsterstone’s’ plans to build a wind farm, consisting of 4 (125 metre high) wind turbines, on land between Great Cransley and Mawsley. Parts of Great Cransley and Mawsley will be less than 800 metres from the closest turbines.

So What Do We Do?
We will actively campaign to ensure that any eventual planning application is rejected by:
- Mobilising local support, by ensuring that all residents are aware of the issues impacting on them by holding public meetings and leaflet distribution in the villages.
- Employing independent specialists in the areas of sound and landscape impact to obtain accurate data and expertise.
- Seeking the support of local businesses.
- Undertaking comprehensive research of all relevant issues.
- Producing an exhaustive, authoritative rebuttal of any planning application.

Living in Powys I can see the countryside being slowly ruined by windfarm develoment. This will affect tourism. The economic case for them has not been made, as they all have to be backed up by conventional power stations when the wind isn’t blowing. Apparently the power(very limited) they generate cannot be stored and I’m told some of them haven’t even been connected to the national grid. In fact they are an absurd and monstrous irrelevance to Britain’s future power needs and none would be built were it not for massive Government subsidies. We should all call time on these ridiculous, costly and unsightly structures.
