Too Big, Too Close and not efficient

When I moved to Mawsley in 2002 I was excited to be part of a village that was just laying down roots.  Since then as the digger and workmen have move away, Mawsley has grown and flourished into a pretty good place to live a sanctuary of peace and quiet.

Now it is blooming in many ways, with TCAM, the school, the medical centre, the shops and most of all the community sprit, which is seen on a daily basis and at all the organised events.

So to me it feels like the wind farm developers want to spoil our peaceful existence and cast a flickering shadow across our homes with a wind farm.  I want to make it clear that I’m totally for green energy and was even considering solar panels for my home. My view of wind farms where they seemed to be the way forward and under the right conditions they still are.

So why am I so against the Gt Cransley wind farm well it’s simple they are too big, too close, and not efficient. Firstly the reason they are so big is that inland from the coast mainland Britain is a low wind area, so they have be so big to get to the stronger winds.

They are too close, German manufacturers recommend a minimum of 2 kilometres away from housing, and Scottish planning requirement states they should also be 2K away from houses, but we don’t have that
requirement in England.  Why should they be 2K away, because of noise, shadow flicker and numerous health issues.

The more I know about these wind farms I realise that it’s more about greed than green, and unless we all get together to fight these plans then the villages only 800m away from this proposed site, will be the only losers, losing quality of life and their right to a peaceful life.

Exactly, this isn’t about being against a greener way of providing energy. It’s not a productive enough piece of land, too close to houses, too close to bridle paths, too close to roads and we can already see the Burton Turbines from our house. We too have been here since 2002 and were around for the initial builders telling us about so much concentration given to Mawsley being a perfect village with focus on building type and layout for authenticity. If on the list there was a low level hum and flickering I’m sure many purchasers would have had a problem.

Turbines are a blot on the landscape and are not effective. Noisy and a danger to birds
