So just how big is a wind turbine?

In order to demonstrate the size of the proposed turbines for Great Cransley Wind Farm, we have put together an illustration. The illustration shows 3 familiar objects:

1) A four bed room detached family home. This typically is approx. 8.7m (approx. 29ft).
2) A Boeing 747 (Jumbo Jet). The length of the aircraft is approx. 70.6m (approx. 231ft), and the wing span is approx. 60m (approx. 196ft).
3) A wind turbine. The height from base to tip of rotor is 125m (410ft). The rotor diameter 90m (295ft).

And you thought a Jumbo Jet was big!  Click on the image on the left to enlarge.
